Carol Sloane: An Evening with an Old Friend
The RTP area of North Carolina was the lucky home base for jazz recording artist Carol Sloane for many years. Her recurring engagements at Raleigh's "The Frog & Nightgown" and at Chapel Hill's "Stephen's, After All" built a deeply loyal 'hometown' admiration for an artist long looked upon as among the world's finest interpreters of the classic jazz standard & the American Popular Song.
It's been more than 20 years since Sloane last performed in North Carolina. On Tuesday & Wednesday, May 1 & 2, 70 guests each evening will welcome her back for an intimate evening of song at C Grace in Raleigh.

"She was off the scene for years, but Carol Sloane is back and sounding gorgeous. On Wednesday night at Jazz Standard, she and Bill Charlap made music of such delicacy, serenity, and elegance that it was a healing experience. Bill's imagination is endless, and Carol is still spinning her silky threads of sound and swinging in her airy way. With this caliber of jazz singing now so rare, what they did together seemed more special than ever." -- James Gavin
"Oh how I admired the pitch-perfect rendition of Spring Will Be A Little Late This Year; her brilliantly nuanced interpretation simply was a consummate work of art. I was literally clinging to every single word. I really can't praise this enough not only because it was such a wonderful experience, but also because we really don't have a lot of singers of this extraordinary caliber around anymore."
